In our country, over the past decade, uPVC (un-Plasticised Polyvinyl Chloride) has emerged as the best alternative to conventional materials like wood, aluminium & steel for fabrication of windows and doors. Wood being a natural product has always been around but its availability compared to demand, is getting limited day by day. Although there are many different types of wood – wood in itself has not evolved over time. By adding a few chemicals, we may be able to improve the quality but wood is still wood. Aluminium was discovered by man as one of the lightest metals in the world but since its discovery, it has not evolved and will always have its flaws.

uPVC has evolved from basic plastic to one of the most advanced and researched products in the world, and its World-wide acceptance has resulted in continuing success in tropical climate zones. Research has managed to add all the benefits of wood and aluminium while excluding all their weaknesses. The condition in India in terms of UV radiation level is very different from the rest of the world. It is 10 times higher than Europe and 2-3 times higher than China. Therefore, it is essential that special tropical blend is used for the profiles extruded to meet Indian climatic conditions. Special tropical blend includes high doses of Titanium Dioxide to ensure colour stability, suitable Heat stabilizers to impart strength to withstand high temperatures, and Impact Modifiers to impart strength to withstand high wind load.

Indian uPVC profile market today is flooded with cheap imports which are mostly lead based and obviously not made out of special tropical blend. Any compromise on the quality of compound makes the system brittle, affecting its performance and durability.

By manufacturing uPVC profiles from special tropical blend suitable for Indian market with Class-B wall thickness of 2.5 mm for outer walls, strictly following British Standard BS EN 12608:2003 at its state-of-the-art plant situated in Alwar, Rajasthan, PSP is fully committed to quality and environment safety. The Heat stabilizer used in our compound is Calcium Zinc based and not lead-based. PSP profiles are, therefore, lead-free duly complying with the requirements of RoHS Directive, which bans products having more than the agreed levels of six substances, lead being one among them.

Let us unite in our efforts to protect the environment!
